Partho Barua (Johny) started playing the rhythm and percussion with multiple instruments and on drums about 27 years ago. Since then providing a steady tempo and rhythmic foundation to the beautiful charms of classical songs, Modern song, Rock Band and country folk music! He has played with a many of popular performers in Bangladesh, India and with the many best singers in Australian community.
Johny has started music when he was 6 years old and he used to try playing any kind of percussions. He has started learning Tabla in his early age. After accomplishing Tabla lesson his interest broadened to learn Dhol, Naal & Mridongo with many other typical local Bangladeshi percussion instruments. His lessons in music were accomplished at first in Chittagong and then Dhaka.
Partho has completed his higher education from India and he was very lucky to have the opportunity to share his musical skills with many of great Indian musicians. In Bangladesh he has performed with many solo artist, a few local bands in Chittagong, also played for well-known bands in India like Bright stars, Reverb, Mantra etc
He has participated countless stage LIVE performances in a small to large scale. In his music career he has performed mainly at RMGM International Convention centre, Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Rabindra Sadan, ANZ stadium Sydney, Canterbury League club, Burwood Sports club, Campbelltown theatre, Chatswood Convention Centre, Ron More Centre and many more.
From his childhood, he was inspired by Ustad Zakir Hossain, Sivamani, late Dave Lombardo, Tommy Aldridge, Vinnie Paul were became his motivation for drumming.
Johny is an active member of Shawpno Band since 2017 and holding the fort as a main percussionist and drummer.
